Vellore gets a Weightlifting Gym

Vellore gets a weightlifting gym worth Rs.2.45 Crore that has been opened by Tamil Nadu Chief Minister K.Palanisami through Video Conferencing.

Weightlifting Gym:

Late Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalalitha had announced for establishing a Weightlifting Gym at Vellore during 2016. That announcement came in following the achievement of Sathish Sivalingam of Vellore Sathuvachari who had won Gold in Men’s 77kg weightlifting at 2014 Common Wealth Games.

Following the announcement, Tamil Nadu Sports Department had granted 2.45 Crores and started building the Gym at Vellore Sathuvachari. As the works got over by now, the gym was opened on Tuesday by Chief Minister K.Palanisami through video conferencing.

Also Officials said that this Vellore weightlifting gym would be the first of its kind in Tamil Nadu. This has three floors and is capable of hosting National level weightlifting competitions. It is well equipped with air conditioning facilities. 25 men and 25 women will be chosen all over the district to get training sessions in this gym. These men and women would be trained hard enough to be sent to National and International level competitions.
